Tatum O'Neal was recently spotted enjoying a day out in Los Angeles.

The "Little Darlings" star was photographed at a fan convention with her family, wearing a black dress paired with a coat, glasses and layered necklaces. She styled her hair in an updo and walked outside the convention with the assistance of a cane.

O'Neal was accompanied by her daughter Emily McEnroe and son-in-law Tim Massarelli.

The sighting comes ahead of the actress' 63rd birthday on Nov. 5 and more than six years after she had a near-fatal stroke in May 2020 following an overdose on morphine, opiates and pain medication.

In a July 2023 interview with People, O'Neal and her son, Kevin McEnroe, opened up about the health scare, with her son telling the outlet there were moments when he and his siblings, Sean and Emily "didn't think she was going to survive."

McEnroe shared that in addition to the stroke, O'Neal had multiple seizures and went into cardiac arrest. She spent six weeks in a coma.

O'Neal has struggled with drug addiction for decades, with McEnroe saying she "had become very isolated" during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, and had begun abusing medications, including some prescribed to her to treat neck and back pain and rheumatoid arthritis.

"She had become very isolated," he told People. "With the addition of morphine and heavier pharmaceuticals, it was getting scary. COVID, chronic pain, all these things led to a place of isolation. In that place, I don't think, for her, there was much hope."

O'Neal made her feature film debut in the 1973 movie, "Paper Moon," which she starred in alongside her famous father, , at nine years old.

She went on to make history for her role in the film, as the youngest winner of a competitive Academy Award, when she took home the award for best supporting actress at the 46th Academy Awards in 1974, when she was 10 years old.

"All I really want to thank is my director Peter Bogdanovich and my father. Thank you," she said in her acceptance speech.

While she thanked her father in her speech, the two went on to have a turbulent relationship. In her 2004 autobiography, "A Paper Life," Tatum shared that their relationship first became rocky after making "Paper Moon," because he was jealous of her success.

In the book, she also alleged he physically and emotionally abused her, and said he was addicted to drugs.

Ryan O'Neal died in December 2023 at the age of 82 from congestive heart failure, and in a February 2025 interview with Variety, Tatum shared her reaction to being left out of his will, noting she only learned of the decision following his death.

she said. "The first book that I wrote was just a f---ing honest book. And thats what got him."
